Sterling Silver, Marcasite and Amethyst, Necklace & Earrings

A sterling silver set of necklace and earrings. The pendants have been wonderfully designed and decorated with marcasites and amethysts. The amethysts are bezel-set and are a wonderfully clear color. There are no missing marcasites and absolutely no problems to report.

Markings: The necklace and one of the earrings is marked "925" as well as the chain. One earring is unmarked. Both of the shepards hooks are marked. There are no maker's marks on these pieces.

Size: The three identical pendants measure approximately 1-7/8" x 3/4". The full drop of the earrings is 2-1/4". The chain on the necklace has a finished length of 18". Total weight of the chain is approximately 0.6 grams. Each pendant is 3.1 grams. Total weight of both necklace and earrings is 10.7 grams.

These were sold to me as a "vintage" set. I hesitate to call them that, although I am not really certain that they are not. Many times when we are looking at pieces which were made in our youth, we do this. Our hesitancy at naming something vintage is one way in which we can avoid dating ourselves. I think this is perhaps a case where, this necklace and earring set, although not antique, could certainly be called vintage (and I can avoid dating myself too severely at the same time :) )
