Sherman Clip-Back Earrings, Signed

These earrings are a little unusual for Sherman. They are signed, and they also have a patent no. (2583985). There are 2 layers of crystals, and some wonderfully unusual and rare colours. The little rectangular baguettes are a pinky mauve. The large round crystals are periwinkle with just a hint of purple, and the small crystals are Aurora Borealis (AB).

Markings: Both earrings are signed "Sherman" on the clip-backings. Both are also marked with the patent number.

Condition: The little rectangular mauve crystals are darkening in behind the settings. It gives them a smoky appearance. I don't know if they have gotten wet at some time, or if perhaps there is some oxidation happening in the setting. I have not taken the crystals out to find out. Whatever has happened, it gives them a slightly deeper color with a smoky effect around the edges. (Not cigarette smoke - no smell or residue, these are clean.) The clip-backs and springs are in excellent condition and these really do not seem to have seen very much wear, if any.
