Mongolian Snuff Bottle with Dragon

Product Description

An antique Mongolian Snuff Bottle. I have seen similar ones to this dated to 1880 - 1900. To me, this seems about right. However, I am not an expert on the dated of Asian pieces.
The silver metal is possibly called Baitung, an alloy composed of zinc and tin. I do not believe it is silver. The silver-colored metal has worn on this bottle, revealing the bronze underneath. On one side of the bottle is a shield, on the other a series of symbols. The cap has the original spoon and is decorated with a small piece of coral. Coral, turquoise, and filigree work decorate the neck of the snuff bottle. The stopper is fastened to the bottle with a short piece of chain attached.
Size: Approximately 1-5/8" x 1-1/4". The spoon measures just 1-1/8" in total length (stopper included). Total weight is 14.7 grams.
Condition: As noted above, most of the silver has been worn off of the bottle. This snuff bottle has also been well used. The spoon is original, and a little bent. All the turquoise and coral pieces are there, original, and securely in place. There does not appear to be any damage to the bottle other than wear.
