What's new, what's happening, what I have been up to lately....
December 30, 2008: I have a new scale. A tiny little digital scale that is perfect for weighing small items of sterling silver and jewelry. It is the same brand and type as my old scale - which, when found after my last move, had not survived. Small things are good things. I have my brother to thank for providing this useful little treasure to me this morning.
December 28, 2008: This year is almost over. I am unpacking so many boxes, finding so many treasures. It looks like just maybe - if I keep this up, I might have a really wonderful store here very soon. I think it is almost time to begin a mailing list. A small newsletter periodically showcasing a few treasures. This morning I opened a box of silver jewelry - I will forego putting them online today, I need a new scale first. My old scale has finally packed it in. Too many moves and it got so much use when I had my store. Ah well, it is always a pleasure to use a good tool. Replacing this one will be a late Christmas present for me.... Best wishes always, for you and your family. Leslie
December 24, 2008: Christmas Eve. It is snowing outside. We are going to have a white Christmas here.... I'm smiling. It may be a much quieter Christmas than was planned, but there is absolutely no problem with that. I had left a couple of things til the last minute - two items of groceries I wanted to purchase this morning. A loaf of brioche and a bottle of bright red cherries. They are both for a large "Bread Pudding" for dessert (Christmas Dinner). This morning, I have a couple of loaves of "Lemon Quick Bread" in the oven. A batch of sweet biscuits and I will have all the bread I need for the pudding. I preserved cherries in brandy this summer. They are not the bright red cherries I was kind of hoping for, but they will most certainly do just as well - if not even better than the others would have. And, the brandy will make a wonderful sauce for the pudding. Maybe I can even sneak a little white chocolate in there..... My best wishes for everyone. May all of your days be light and filled with joy.
December 15, 2008: I have been asked why I am opening so many new item "pages" and "categories". I decided to open up these pages - showing just one item - because I know just how much more there is to list here. This is the listing, one item at a time, of the entire inventory of a bricks-and-mortar antique store. Please check back often - these one item categories will soon be pages filled with treasures....
December 13, 2008: I'm in Canada. I grew up with things like a "Baker's Dozen" and "Canadian Tire Money" and they are wonderful treats! Starting today - with every purchase there will be a coupon presented to you at the end of the checkout. The amount will be a total of 5% of your purchase, good towards your next purchase OR you can save the coupons and get something for free! later! Just like I used to save Mom's Canadian Tire dollars and get a treat for myself.... Just like at Canadian Tire, the expiry date on these coupons is when I close this shop. (I don't plan on closing this shop for a VERY LONG TIME....) I hope you have fun shopping here at Cherry Blossom in Blue.
December 11, 2008: More and more boxes are being opened. I found Royal Crown Derby, Blue Mikado china this evening. Not a lot of what there is, but enough to get started on a nice collection of this wonderful flow blue pattern.
December 7, 2008: I picked up three beautiful Inuit soapstone carvings from a friend last night. This morning I am beginning the research to see what these beauties can tell me.
