Cameo jewelry, is usually a carved piece of either shell or stone, the carving in relief and displaying a figure. The most common cameos - and some of the most beautiful - are carved using conch shells. The carvings depicting head and shoulders or full flowing figures. Occasionally animals are also depicted, as are figures from mythology.
