Antique Carte de Visite - Portrait of a Victorian Gentleman, 1880s

I have another CDV (Carte de Visite) here on Etsy that has a matching background and chair. It really made me happy that I had decided that this photograph was from the 1880s when I discovered this as I had already dated the other one into the 1880s as well. The other photograph is a woman, I suspect these two are man and wife.

These are both wonderful, and almost pristine examples of 1880s studio portrait photography. The only thing wrong with this one is that the little piece of protective paper is missing from the back. The remnants are still there but the paper was likely cut off to facilitate sliding the card into an album page.
