Antique Brooch, Black Enamel and Amethysts - Victorian

A beautiful, antique brooch. It shows wear on the brass backing - the front though, is perfect! The black enamel work is well done and has been "cut" through to the brass much in the same way that layers of colored glass are cut through to reveal what is hiding underneath. The three amethysts are hand-cut. One has a chip which is not apparent unless you are looking through a jeweler's loop.

Size: This is a small bar pin. Approximate measurements across the front are 1-3/8" x 3/8". Total weight is 4.2 grams.

Condition: The condition of the brooch is noted above. The condition of the pin and backing is good. There is wear on the backing and a scratch in the silver coating of the pin. This scratch is within 1/4" of the hinge. If you are careful with placement (fine fabrics may be tricky) this pin is still wearable. The pin is still straight and sharp, and sits well inside the C-clasp.
